Following the end of the fifth and final England-Australia Test at The Oval, as well as the second Sri Lanka-Pakistan Test in Colombo, the newest MRF Tyres ICC Men's Test Player Rankings have seen significant change.

  • Brook enters the top 10 of the batters list for the first time

After the hosts clawed their way back into a winning position in the second half of the series, the Ashes finished in a two-all stalemate.


Joe Root of England was included on all three lists. He moved up one spot in the batters list to take second place behind New Zealander Kane Williamson with 859 rating points, slid up three spots in the bowlers list to take 64th place (334 points), and moved up one more spot to take sixth place (286 points) among all-rounders.


Harry Brook's 363 runs for England propelled him to a career-high ninth spot from 11th with 773 points, his first appearance in the top ten of the batters list. Meanwhile, Jonny Bairstow and Zack Crawley climbed to positions 17 and 29 on the list of batters, respectively, with 683 and 618 points. Crawley shares this position with Pakistan's Mohammad Rizwan, who moved up four spots from 33rd, and it is his personal best position.

Steve Smith, who moved up three spots to third place with 842 points thanks to his batsmanship, and opener Usman Khawaja, who moved up from eighth to seventh with 796 points, round out Australia's top ten.

Following their innings and 222-run victory over Sri Lanka, Pakistan's batsmen also made great progress. Agha Salman's undefeated 132 off 154 also helped him make a surprising 23-slot jump to a career-best 35th place from 58th place, with 601 points, while Abdullah Shafique's amazing double century (201 from 326 balls) helped him sail 27 spots to 21st place, with 657 points. Additionally, he moved up six spots to a new career high of 33rd (118 points) in the all-rounders list. Shan Masood, one of their teammates, moved up seven spots to 67th place with 444 points.

The bowlers were similarly active, but none have come close to threatening Ravichandran Ashwin, who currently holds the lead with 879 points. Stuart Broad finished his Test career on a high note, moving up four spots to finish in fourth place with 776 points and placing 18th overall with 172 points among all-rounders.

His England colleagues Chris Woakes (23rd from 31st with 624 points), Mark Wood (career-best 21st from 23rd), and Ollie Robinson (6th from 9th with 762) all received honors. Woakes moved up one spot from 11th on the list of all-rounders to into the top 10, while Wood moved up from 25th to 24th on the list with 149 rating points. Among the all-rounders, Moeen Ali is only four spots behind him in 28th place after moving up four spots from 32nd with 130 points.

Todd Murphy moved up nine ranks to 57th and a personal best rating of 330 points in the bowlers list and moved up 20 spots to 60th in the all-rounders list, while Mitchell Starc moved up two spots to 12th (742 points). Todd Murphy also moved up 20 spots to 60th in the all-rounders list.

Noman Ali of Pakistan moved up a career-high seven spots to 42nd rank from 55th (497 points) after taking 7/70 in the second innings of their Test match against Sri Lanka, while Naseem Shah of Pakistan rose seven spots to 37th and 530 points among the bowlers. With 100 points, he also moved up eight spots to number 38 on the all-rounders list.

India won the series after defeating the hosts 2-1 in the third match, according to the most recent MRF Tyres ICC Men's ODI Player Rankings, which took into account the last two games between the West Indies and India in Barbados and Trinidad & Tobago. 

Shai Ho, the skipper of the Windies, moved up one spot to position 12 on the list of batters with 688 rating points, while Ishan Kishan, of India, advanced 15 spots.
